At the weekend I was able to see a very unique watercross event in Lapland. At first they were racing the modified snowmobiles in a straight line across the surface of the water but in the afternoon they were doing a more complex and intricate figure of eight course that involved corners and varying speeds.
There were a few that sunk and we had to wait while they hauled them up from the bottom of the river. I am not sure if Finns know that they invented the jet ski for this purpose and the one advantage to that machine is that it doesn’t sink. But it was interesting to see snowmobiles on water.
Have you ever seen machines being used for something that they weren’t originally intended for?
