The Bat marks the spot of the former Lepakkoluola (bat cave), an innovative music and youth centre. The centre was also the birthplace of the first commercial radio station in Finland, Radio City. The sculpture by Jouni Kuusimäki was hung in the assembly hall but when the building was demolished the Bat was moved into storage until 2003 when it was enclosed in its glass case on Porkkalankatu. The sculptures wingspan is four meters.
I have always enjoyed night photography and when it came to this sculpture I thought it right to photograph it at night. Though, the details of the animal itself remain hidden the lights of the traffic show its shape, hanging there in the darkness.
More night photography in my post By Night.

I’ve never even taken notice of this bat! I do remember Lepakko though 😉

That’s the difficulty, I have also tried once. I will be still sharing my statues on Saturdays (and most likely other days) so continue to stop by.
