In a remote part of Helsinki’s center there is a unique spot with a great view and a hive of cultural activity. Behind the power station in a large disused car park there is this small shed overlooking the city. Inside this shed and behind the bizarrely decorated door is a community organised public sauna.

This reminds me of the small shacks put out on frozen lakes and ponds in winter time here by people who ice fish…Imagine a sauna…wild!

I have never seen one of those before. The Finns just sit out there on a stool with a bottle of vodka to keep them warm!

It does look like quite a decorated door. Looks like toys are hanging from the window if my eyes are not mistaken. They sure must have seen a lot in their time hanging there. Great shot, great composition 🙂
