CCTV Building

The CCTV building is the China Central Television (CCTV) headquarters located near to the Third Ring Road in Beijing’s new Central Business District. The unique design involves two L-shaped towers connected at the top and the bottom to form a continuous structure.

At its tallest point the building is 234m high with the two towers connecting on the 51st floor, 163m above the ground. The grounds and gardens below were designed to double as filming grounds for the corporation.

CCTV Building

During my trip to Beijing visiting the CCTV building was high on my list, I was even luckily enough to visit it both at day and night. It’s wasn’t like anything I had seen or photographed before and I knew it would be an important inclusion when putting together Offbeat.

Glowing in the Night

Glowing in the Night

There are two things about this photo that I like, the shadow of Mannerhiem’s statue on the outside of the museum, the other is the glowing red light of Mona Hatoum’s exhibit Hot Spot on the top floor of the Museum. Just a shame about the construction in the foreground.

What do you like? Or even dislike?

LUX Festival Helsinki

Last week saw the LUX Festival in Helsinki. During the weekend several places in Senate Square had a different light installation with the main event being the Helsinki Cathedral. It was a very cold weekend with temperatures reaching -20, but i still managed to get out there a few times to photographs.

Helsinki Cathedral during the LUX Festival. My favorite part of this photography is the line of spectators silhouetted against the light display on the cathedral.

What do you like the most?

I hope to post a full blog of my photographs from the LUX Festival later in the week. Would you like to see more images from the light festival?
